I’ve been a Type-A personality my whole life. Everything has to be organized, I love making lists, and I love planning things out in advance. One way that I am able to do that while keeping my sanity are with planners. After recently stumbling across the Purposeful Planner from Corie Clark Shop, I just knew that I had to share it with y’all. Staying organized with the Purposeful Planner is such a breeze! Here’s how I do it (and you can too!)
The Purposeful Planner comes in two different types–the 18-Month Weekly Planner and the Academic Daily Planner. After some back and forth, I chose the Daily planner so that I am able to micro-manage myself, my family, and my blog all in one planner.
There’s a small folder right up frontwhere you can tuck things for safe keeping. Examples are: Receipts, bills you need to pay, appointment reminder cards, recipe cut outs from your favorite magazine.
One of the first things that I like to do when I get a new planner is decorate it! Because, come on! I don’t go all out with planner packs, stickers, and tons of Washi Tape (there are some amazing videos on YouTube for it though, if that’s something that you’re interested in). I just like to add a little bit of personality to mine.
Using Washi Tape, I cut out little “banners” to decorate birthdays every month so that I won’t forget. Grayson and I both have birthdays in August so those got decorated first!
At the beginning of every month, the Purposeful Planner contains the entire month boxed so that you are able to jot down things like birthdays and events that you know in advance. There is also a margin to the side for any notes or things you need to get done that month.
Utilizing this page is essential to keeping on track throughout the month. Tips + Tricks : Write down every birthday, special event, and appointment that you’re aware of before hand. Plan the rest of your month according to those things that you have already going on. Use the margin to jot any and everything down. Things that you need to do, appointments that you need to schedule, etc.
Master Tasks + Dreams & Goals
This page is a favorite. To the left, you have a “Master Task List”, which can be used for anything from cleaning to decor and remodeling. It has space for each room in your house.
To the right, a place to list your goals and dreams for the entire month. This page I use to brainstorm and ideas for the blog, things that I would like to accomplish professionally and personally, etc. Having a Dreams & Goals page is super helpful to envision your entire month and what you hope to get out of it. It sets a positive vibe from the very beginning of the month.
Budget + Menu
This page might just be my favorite.
To the left, you will have a page devoted entirely to your budget for the month. Keeping track of finances is extremely important to me, and I was excited to see this page. It’s completely broken down for you to make it easy to maintain throughout the month.
To the right, a menu! Write down recipes that you want to try, weekly meal preps, etc. with this page. Keep track of ingredients needed for your weekly grocery store trips. You can also move it to the daily page so you know what you’re making for dinner each night!
The individual days are broken down so well. At the top, there are three bullet points to jot down the most important things that you need to get done. Below that, you have your day broken down BY THE HOUR. Unless you wake up before 6 AM, but it’s still pretty useful to have it broken down this way. The day can be completely micro-managed. FAVORITE PART.
There are spots for health and daily water intake. I need to increase the amount of water that I drink, so this is fun for me.
The spot for prayer and praise can be used for whatever you feel. Typically, I will add a little mantra that I want to stick to for that specific day…maybe some sort of motivational quote, or even a small prayer for the day. 15 Minutes designates a task each day for you to devote 15 minutes to. The planner already had the tasks filled in, but you can of course add your own.
Brain dump, retail therapy, and menu are pretty self explanatory. This is where I mentioned you can transfer your August menu ideas specifically to each night to keep track.
